Many congratulations to all those involved in organising Pride 2009. It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves. It was, however, a little disappointing that more of the gay venues and businesses didn’t get involved in the parade itself again.

Surely the gay community’s profile in the parade is much of what Pride is about?

It does not cost that much in effort and resources to hire and decorate a vehicle once a year. The smaller establishments could share a float or secure sponsorship if they are concerned about the costs.

If a small bar like Vavoom can do it, why can’t the others?
