I have just driven by a bus carrying an advert concerning the census saying "If your not religious say No in the census. What an offensive waste of tax payers money running a campaign to encourage people to put one answer on religion. 

I make no apologies I am proud of my Methodist roots and do not believe I should have the state use my taxes to down grade mine or anyone else's religious beliefs.
 
I then open my census to be asked if I and other members of my household are gay or straight.
 
I have always been openly gay that is my business and not that of an intrusive government.
 
We should recall that when the Nazi's rounded up the gays and Jews throughout Germany and the occupied territories they used government records and the ID card system.
 
There are many people who would be offended if their landlord or house mates wanted to interrogate them about their sexuality for a government questionnaire .
 
Lastly I have never understood why government believe it is their right to ask for my racial group, although they seem totally confused between the concept of race and that of nationality.
 
I will in my usual fashion complete the form on race with the response the retort "Human Race."
