A big thanks to the moron(s) who hacked to pieces the beautiful weeping cherry tree in the centre of Queen's Park last week - you must be feeling really proud of your actions.
I toured the park yesterday with the park ranger, Lindsay Cattenach and stopped to look at the damage caused. Most of the bark has been stripped away after being attacked by some kind of blunt instrument as there were literally dozens of slash marks evident. Alas, this wonderful specimen, in such a glorious spot adjacent to the cascade will now die.
It's probably the same vandals that also recently spray painted the old bowling green hut for a
"bit of fun" no doubt.
Rest assured, the tree will be replaced shortly and the graffiti painted over, but let's all keep an eye out for this anti social behaviour and do all we can to prevent it.
The park is our neighbourhood "jewel" so let's get on and protect it from such hooligans.
