The opening (and only) line of text in this book  states ‘perfection is an illusion’, the book then hurtles headlong into magical page after magical page with the artifice of photography, make up and costume collaborating to make each of these pages perfect.

This is photoart like the French do it, reminiscent of ‘Pierre & Giles’ real stunning colourful and playful portraits of these sexy and famous models, and like the aforementioned Frenchies, these two New French Boys on the block ’Julian & Stephane’ are designed to become gay icons.

This is a photographer with a sense of humour and irony, poetry, one who realises that to look it to be observed and to watch is to be seen. It’s a two way exchange here, they look at you looking at them looking at you.

It’s pretentious and delightful, serious and funny and I really liked it. It’s even got a story you can follow and understand.

There’s no attempt at art, and yet a lot of these pictures are stunning, it’s seemingly artificial but they guys look natural and it combines tender gentle affectionate portraits will full on horny hard core filth, not bad for one small book.

I laughed out loud at some of the photo’s and getting a porno star to make fun of himself is no mean feat in the deadly serious world of sex & vanity.

It makes a change to see one of these ‘photo books’ with a bit of style about it, and the inclusion of very famous and playful models like Greg David and Francois Sagat just add to this books charm.

A good gift for the classy coffee table connoisseur or for someone who has some ‘joie de vive’ of their own.
