The Focusing the Mind photography exhibition, co-produced by MindOut and the University of Brighton for Pride 2008, is at The Jubilee Library from February 18–27. It showcases the experiences of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people living with and managing mental health issues.

Dr Katherine Johnson from the School of Applied Social Science said:
“We are delighted that the Focusing the Mind photography exhibition, originally co-produced by MindOut and the University of Brighton for Pride 2008, is to be displayed again in Jubilee Library during February.

"The exhibition captures images of vulnerability and resilience in the lives of LGBT people who live with mental health problems demonstrating real creative flair as well as universal narratives of vulnerability and resilience, and has the novel feature of enabling viewers to leave their comments in order to become part of the project. We hope many people will visit.”

The photographers are all first-time exhibitors and members of Out of the Blue, a local LGBT support group that runs as part of MindOut.

The exhibition is free and open to the general public. Those who attend also have the opportunity to become part of the project by commenting on the images and stories.
