Romany Mark Bruce, who created the recently unveiled Aids Memorial, is to have a solo exhibition in Brighton.

To celebrate this and to show the broad sweep of his work, Impure Art is hosting an exhibition of Romany Mark Bruce’s paintings and sculptures.

Having such a broad range of artistic talent is unusual and his paintings, which he only began to experiment with a few years ago, are now in constant demand.

Every year Romany has a sell-out show in the Artists’ Open House event. This upcoming exhibition is a chance to acquire the best of his new work long in advance of his next Open House in May 2010.

Romany’s paintings largely focus on single nude male figures from the waist up. These are highly colourful works, which represent the figure in bright and bold brushstrokes against monochrome backgrounds. Constantly changing and evolving, though, his paintings have gained an amazing maturity in the space of just a few years.

To complement the paintings will be a selection of his limited edition sculptures, including the miniature of the AIDS Memorial. His sculptures are modeled in clay and then cast in bronze or bronze resin and range from statuesque indoor torsos to heroic outdoor landmarks, mainly inspired by the human form. His sculptures, as well as his paintings have been acquired by collectors worldwide, from countries including the USA, Australia, Hong Kong and the Middle East, and all over Europe.

Jamie McCartney of Impure Art said:
“Romany is not only a highly accomplished sculptor and painter but also an extremely lovely man. Unassuming, and always polite he is a gentleman who deserves every bit of the success he is achieving.”

Also on show, alongside Romany’s work are selected works by some of our finest artists, many of them concentrating on the nude male figure.

Romany Mark Bruce will be on show at:
The Impure Art Gallery,
13 Ship Street Gardens,

from Saturday 17 October to Sunday 29 November.

The gallery will be open Wednesday to Saturday, 12-6pm,
Sunday and Bank Holidays 12-5pm.
